Laufbänder vor Meisterwerken: Dieses Projekt wird die Museumswelt revolutionieren! “It’s well known that museum visitors don’t spend much time studying paintings. In fact, their attention lasts as little as nine seconds per work. What’s less well known is that we’ll give a lot more time to another activity: watching TV while using a treadmill. An average of twenty whole minutes. Museum Minutes seeks to combine these two observations. By erecting a line of treadmills in front of famous paintings, the installation encourages people to spend a few more moments with works of art. A timer lets you know how long you’ve devoted to each painting, adding an extra layer of motivation. Museum Minutes was created with the intention of stimulating debate about the degree to which we’re willing to prioritize culture. It was developed by Erik Kessels (KesselsKramer), Les Willers (OPERA Amsterdam), Cyril Van Sterkenburg (Vandejong) and Merien Kunst (Woedend!) Museum Minutes was initiated on the invitation of cultural advisor Johan Idema, and can be seen in the Kunsthal Rotterdam till January 13, 2013.” Via: Mail
