Monotremu: “Second-hand”

* Sorry, es gab in letzter Zeit hier wenig Updates. Der Grund: Ab 18.4 wird ARTE Creative 2.0 gelauncht, überarbeitet von Pixelpark – und das ist gerade verdammt viel Arbeit. Aber ich denke das Ergebnis kann sich sehen lassen: Die Webseite wird dann endlich auf allen mobilen Endgeräten funktionieren und auch der Videoplayer wird eine verbesserte Bildqualität bekommen. Außerdem gibt´s viele, viele neue Features, eine verbesserte Informationsarchitektur und natürlich zahlreiche neue Serien und Projekte. Nur schon mal als erstes Schmankerl ein bisserl Namedropping: “The Message”, eine Webserie über Keith Haring; “Tricks”, eine Musikshow mit Tracky Birthday und Hasi International, mit dem Festival Oberhausen wird über die Zukunft des Kinos nachgedacht, Holm Friebe und Kathrin Passig schreiben wieder über “Das nächste große Ding” und natürlich das große crossmediale Experiment “About:Kate“.

Aram Bartholl: “Offline Art” @ Xpo Gallery, Paris

“Offline Art” ist das neue Ausstellungsformat von Aram Bartholl – präsentiert in der Pariser Xpo Gallery (bis 14. März): “Web based art works will be accessible via wireless network but disconnected from the internet. A high profile selection of 14 artists of various “Internet generations” (Cory Arcangel, Kim Asendorf, Claude Closky, Constant Dullaart, Dragan Espenschied, Faith Holland, JODI, Olia Lialina, Jonas Lund, Evan Roth, Phil Thompson, Emilie Gervais & Sarah Weis) – who are all working digitally and online – will present recent and new works. Browser-based digital art works are broadcast locally from wifi routers which are not connected to the Internet. Each art work is assigned a single wifi router which is accessible through any device, like smart-phones, tablets or laptops. To access the different art works, the visitor has to connect to each network individually. The name of the network reflects the name of the artist. No matter what URL is opened, only the specific artwork appears in the browser. A small web server holding the art piece is installed on a USB flash drive which is connected to the router. Like frames holding the art, the routers are hung in the exhibition space which is otherwise empty. The art itself becomes visible only on the visitor’s private screen.”

Leonard Menchiari: “Riot Game”

Ein kleines italienisches Entwicklerteam bastelt gerade an einem 8-Bit-”Riot-Game” und sucht via Indiegogo noch Unterstützung: “As the economical crisis advances, the discontent of an entire population cannot help but outburst in Riots, where the sounds of many voices get heard at once. The Director Leonard Menchiari has been experiencing this form of protest in person, and the game “Riot” was born as a way to express it and to tell the stories of these fights. What is that triggers such a strife? What does a cop feel during the conflict? In “Riot”, the player will experience both sides of a fight in which there is no such thing as “victory” or “defeat”.” Via/Via

Stalking im Netz: Collusion und Tracking Cookies

“Wer im Netz unterwegs ist, der wird über sogenannte Tracking Cookies verfolgt. Das sind kleine Textdateien, die auf dem Computer des Nutzers gespeichert werden und von den folgenden Seiten ausgelesen werden können. Dadurch weiß zum Beispiel Website X, dass der User zuvor auf der Website Y war. Allerdings werden nicht nur solche einfachen Informationen vermittelt, sondern das genaue Verhalten des Users beobachtet. Die Seite X weiß unter Umständen dann auch, was der Nutzer auf Seite Y gesucht hat, was gelesen oder angeschaut. Dadurch kann auf Seite Y Werbung geschaltet werden, die auf die (angeblichen) Interessen des Users zugeschnitten ist. Das ganze Ausmaß der Verfolgung im Netz kann durch eine Erweiterung des Firefox Browsers von Mozilla offenbart werden. Das Programm Collusion zeigt an, wer den Nutzer wie verfolgt.” Solches “Predictive Behavioral Targeting” bzw. Echtzeit-Online-Vermarktung anhand von Tracking Cookies macht z.B. die Firma nugg.ad – schöner Artikel dazu auch in der aktuellen brand eins – und das wird in Deutschland auch schon von bild.de bis Zeit Online eingesetzt. Übrigens gibt es aber auch dafür schon eine Lösung von Firefox und zwar die Funktion “Do Not Track“. Via
