Fayçal Baghriche: “Point ligne particules”, 2010: The video “Point, ligne, particules” shows a performance in which the artist revisits the principles of formal composition, outlined by Wassily Kandinsky in his work entitled “Point and Line to Plane” (1926). In this book Kandinsky defines the line as the result of a combination of: a point in movement and the expression of the force of an action. Fayçal Baghriche illustrates Kandinsky’s concept by choosing a train as a surface. Via

Via, Mail, thx!

Temujin Doran: “Obey”
Schöner Found-footage-Theoriefilm: “British filmmaker and illustrator Temujin Doran has previously delighted and stimulated us with his visual love letters to language and illustration, his opinionated meditations on democracy and the art of protest, and his poetic documentaries about a small Arctic town and a dying occupation. His latest film, made entirely out of footage found on the web, is based on the book The Death of the Liberal Class by cultural critic and foreign correspondent Chris Hedges and explores how the rise of the Corporate State precipitated everything from income inequality to environmental collapse to the mainstream media’s metamorphosis from a tool of public service into a weapon of private interest.” Via

“The Pirate Bay Away From Keyboard”: Die Dokumentation von Simon Klose
TPB AFK hatte gerade Premiere bei der Berlinale, kann man sich natürlich (ganz legal) bei Pirate Bay runterziehen – oder bei YouTube anschauen. “The Pirate Bay Away From Keyboard documentary, which tells the story behind the embattled Swedish Pirate Bay project, is now available on YouTube. The film just premiered in Europe and was simultaneously launched on line at Youtube and for download on…Pirate Bay. Following the TPB founders, Peter Sunde, Fredrik Neij and Gottfrid Svartholm, the doc is of interest to anyone concerned with or about copyright in an age of information saturation and increasing surveillance and digital commons. Enjoy!” Via

* “Art Gone Wild“: Im Zoo von Oklahoma sind wirklich alle Tiere Künstler – da malen sogar Schlangen, Flamingos und Grizzlybären. Ab 100 Euro bekommt man ein Original: “Each work of art has been made especially for the show by the Zoo’s resident animal artists, with some help from their keepers. Some animals use a paint brush while others choose to paint with their paws, claws, tails and scales. Artist animals will include elephants, snakes, rhinoceros, flamingos, grizzly bears, and more! New artists this year are sure to make a splash as the archer fish have gotten into the painting mix. Each painting is unique, and each artist has his or her unique techniques.” Via

* Mitmach-Aktion von Yolanda Dominguez: “Are you sick of the stereotypes of the fashion world? Do you think that the poses of the models are absurd and denigrate the image of women? Do you think that advertising makes women into objects? If you do not feel identified with the image of women in the media and think you are much more than a handbag and shoes: this is yours! Join this artistic action of Yolanda Dominguez: Call a friend and imitate together the image of the new Chanel campaign: a couple of women in front of a landmark hotel of your city (drained on the couch, looking silly and looking to customers) and send me a mini recorded video of the action to info@yolandadominguez.com”
* Buch-Tipp I: “Billboard Bandits – Outlaw Artists in the sky“. “While graffiti itself is illusive in nature, billboard graffiti takes it a step further as one of the most daring aspects of the craft. The book itself includes photos and interviews from artists all over America and the UK. The first hand accounts enable the reader to feel present in the world of these individual artists. Some of them are raw and gritty vandals while others provide more of a fine art feel. They specialize in everything from integrating their pieces into the advertisement itself to adding their artwork to the blank billboard back.” Via

* Magazin/Buch-Tipp: “Critical Making – a handmade book project by Garnet Hertz in the field of critical technical practice and critically-engaged maker culture. Critical making is defined by Ratto as exploring how hands-on productive work – making – can supplement and extend critical reflection on the relations between digital technologies and society. It also can be thought of as an appeal to makers to be critically engaged with culture, history and society.” Via

* Film-Tipp: “Branded ist ein modernes Märchen, in dem reale Phänomene und Mechanismen des Markensystems verarbeitet werden, teils in wortwörtlich monströsen Metaphern. Zugrunde liegt eine fundamentale Branding-Kritik: “It’s all the Brands, it’s the System, it’s an occupation [...] It used to be that Brands were formed from peoples desires. Now it is the people that are formed according to the desires of the brands” spricht der Held.

“Possible Books is a small publishing house founded on a love for books. We don’t see books strictly as a medium to deliver information, but rather as a vessel of sensual and subtle experiences. We consider ourselves as book makers rather than publishers. Our books will be produced industrially if necessary, but will always have a “human touch.” We appreciate collaborations and open dialogue, and Possible Books will be a platform for exactly that. As for the content of our books, we have our interests but are keen for new ideas and avenues.” Viel Erfolg!

* Eines meiner Lieblingszines (Sorry, Schicken Omi!) ist endlich wieder da: Junk Jet Fanzine N°6: “The global is but the local on world tour. On this tour the local is not preserving identity – be that cultural, political, or social, but it is (re-)inventing itself, as art, activism, or enterprise. The local even aims at becoming a global subject, without knowing what forces – be that swarm, viral, or whatever, this depends on. The local is more or less ignorant about the www processes, but it is ready to get itself into anything – be that souvenirs, ruins, folklorisms, vernaculars, clichés, promises, romanticisms, naturalisms, exotisms. Junk Jet N°6 is crazy about things of local time and place, in the form of objects, images, gifs, videos, sounds, architectures, or reflecting texts. Junk Jet comes with works from your localhost, or your local wifi kebab-shop.” 144 Seiten, 12 Euro.
